At what point does having an alter ego become a problem?
I am told having an alter ego is normal albeit I certainly don’t feel normal. I see myself as a product of my own design. How can the real person get rid of the alter ego? How would the alter ego go about becoming the dominant of the two? I figure I have to ask both at the same time to level the playing field.
Good question. Woild love to know the answer to that myself.
My husband had the same problem. He had/ has an alter ego that he had developed as a child to deal with stress and bullies. He was a calm kid, while his alter was violent and uncaring. When we were dating his alter came out a few times. One night we had a big rip, roarin fight (his alter and I). There were punches, kicks, bites, slams into the wall (him more than me as I had been in more fights and was better at it), and basically lots of violence all around. Finally, both exhausted, we both ended up falling asleep on the floor. After that, I never heard anything more from his alter. In fact, it was like the alter never existed.
So the point of this is, maybe an alter is part of you that’s missing something that you yourself don’t want to deal with? Heh, I don’t know. Maybe you should go to plan c and see (shudder) a therapist.
just the fact that you have to ask this question (I’m assuming this is going on and not just a passing curiosity in your life) means you are already teetering on the fence on this one. alter ego’s should happen less and less the older you get… that’s not the same as a “facet of your personality” .. we all have good days/bad days…. days we are happy/sad…. active/lazy… stressed/ or not… and we all act differently in those environments… but an alter ego is a more severe switch in personality.
I would say, like how I started this answer.. when you have to ask this question… things have gone as far as they need to go. It’s time to either get control of your mind.. or if you can’t on your own seek help to ensure it doesn’t go any further.
just my opinion.
At what point does having an alter ego become a problem?
When you can’t tell who is who within yourself and start blaming your alter for things you do……This starts to happen in the effect when you notice people accept your two egos. When we see that door begin to open we start to run with it and believe we are two people.
The only two people within us is the choice of Right/Wrong, Good/Evil. Those two pressures rage within us and we have to manage that war and make sure it does not manage us.
Have you seen the Movie starring Anthony Hopkins? It’s called MAGIC.
Who’s a better receiver T.O or Terrel Owens?
