I am told having an alter ego is normal albeit I certainly don’t feel normal. I see myself as a product of my own design. How can the real person get rid of the alter ego? How would the alter ego go about becoming the dominant of the two? I figure I have to ask both at the same time to level the playing field.

The leader of an organization I am a part of is extremely difficult to work with, and he usually goes unchallenged. His ego is ultra inflated, and other members of the organization are reluctant to challenge him because they are either afraid, or just don’t want to deal with the drama that comes with confrontation. He lies compulsively, and puts people down. He is dismissive, and tries to come off as a hardnosed professional, even though everyone else knows otherwise. I’m trying to find advice on what we can do to work together better as an organization.

If you are a psychologist or have learned about psychology, which do you like better?

I think 90% of the questions post in the psychology section has very little to do with psychology. Why is that?

A guy I work with is basically a good guy, but he tends to, 1. Put on a self important ingatiating manner on the phone and often passes off half truth as fact, 2. Always tries to cut down many statements I make in a superior all knowing way. 3 Will jump in to ‘top’ many conversations I have with others, as if his ego needs to demonstrate he is better than me. How could I deal with him in a way that is self respecting to myself, without disrespecting him?

I’m a recent graduate and I’m looking to further my education by gaining a higher degree in Psychology. Problem is, I’m not too sure of all the things I can do with a Psychology Masters and/or a Psychology Ph.D., along with the Biology Bachelors I already have.
I’d like to find out what I career options I have out there.

I was just wondering how many people join the United States Marines partly due to their ego? I know their can be many reasons why someone would want to join, but it seems that a good deal of the time people I’ve listened to have the basic belief that the marines are the best of the branches of the military and they of course are the tough and cool, so why not have the best (themselves) join the best? Of course many join for more noble reasons than that, but I was just curious.
