Most people ask questions they think is related to psychology; like questions about behavior...etc.

Most people post their replies in a section they feel comfortable. If they've spent time on this section, they will post it here because they know: 1. there will be responders 2. there may be some good responses.

Life struggles would be classified into the "counseling" section of psychology---and technically, it is psychology. There are many relationship questions and they really don't belong here, but since many of them are emotion-laden and confused, they might as well belong in the imaginary counseling section of the psychology.

I suspect it may be that a lot of people have a very superficial idea of what psychology is. You will note that a lot of askers like to self-diagnose ("I'm ADD, OCD, depressed...") yet the rest of their question indicates they have no idea what they are talking about. Obviously the psychological knowledge of many is limited to having heard about Freud and a few of his words (without knowing what they mean or even the correct words for them) such as "Unconscious" and "subconscious."

Others are simply using the site as if they are writing to Ann Landers for advice on their personal lives and relationships.

Still others seem to think "psychology" has to do with "psychic" and ask about mind-reading and nonsense like that.

And then there are those who want their dreams interpreted, as if anyone can actually do that!

As an Adlerian psychologist (see ) I pick and choose among the questions for topics where I can be useful or can educate/inform from that point of view. -- Dr. Bob

i think it's because most people only want to know what are useful. what they want to know is the practical aspect of psychology not psychology per se.

i think people ask relationship/personal-demon questions... they think that is what psychology is about. to an extent it can be... then you have those people taking psych in college and just want help on essays/test questions. let's face it, anyone else (with real psychology Qs) should know where to find the answers they need.

People probably don't ahve a lot to ask about Psychology ^^
Maybe they just misplace their questions, or don't know exactly what is meant with Psychology.
