If you are using them in dialog, you are safest with the King James version, since it is not copyrighted. If you are using it as a quote at the beginning of a chapter, the usual form is to cite the work, so you would give chapter and verse and maybe version. If you don't want to use the KJV, just contact the publisher for the version you do want to use, I'm sure they'll give you permission (which will end up in the bibliographic data on the verso, IIRC). wl No, it is not. Also since there has been a person or two that returned from the dead, I've been told, you might look out for a law suite in the future! For example, it's says you're not allowed to have an entire chapter or just copy the whole thing.. but you are definitely allowed to use quotations from it.
