		<description>No, it wouldn&#039;t have been Plato.  (And Socrates actually never wrote anything, the only record we have of him and his thought comes from Plato&#039;s dialogues, and a couple of descriptions from Xenophon.)

Sounds more like Nietzsche or, going out on a limb, maybe Albert Camus.  The focus on the individual&#039;s principles is definitely from the modern period.</description>
