(And Socrates actually never wrote anything, the only record we have of him and his thought comes from Plato's dialogues, and a couple of descriptions from Xenophon.) Sounds more like Nietzsche or, going out on a limb, maybe Albert Camus. The focus on the individual's principles is definitely from the modern period. No, it wouldn’t have been Plato.
