A hamster on the wheel finds more
fortune than beggars borrowing
from passersby.

No time for folly, take fortune in your
mistakes.

A walk from a garden is not long as
time for reproachment.

'If it is to be, it is up to me."

"This, too, shall pass."

"I know I can! I know I can!"

"I gotta pay now to play later."

... or pick a prize for yourself for when exams are over ... a massage; a new CD or DVD; a mini-vacation (even if it's only an overnight stay in the next town over). You can do it; I did!

Vincent Van Gogh: Quotes: Hard Work
Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together.

Thomas Fuller: Quotes: Hard Work
He that would have fruit must climb the tree.

Menander: Quotes: Hard Work
He who labors diligently need never despair; for all things are accomplished by diligence and labor.

Anonymous: Quotes on Hard Work
Failure is not the worst thing in the world. The very worst is not to try.

Thomas Alva Edison: Quotes on Hard Work
Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration.

Some more quotes from the links below. There are 9 pages' worth.

We all have to work to live. If we learn a skill, we might get paid more per hour than if we don't learn it.
Necessity is the Mother of Invention, or in the alternative it keeps us from going hungry, cold, living under a bridge, wearing torn or worn out clothing, etc. as we realize the solution to these problems is ....... work!!
The grasshopper and the ant story.
The harder we work, the luckier we get.
God helps those who help themselves.
One hundred years ago, 50% of people lived on a farm and grew their own food. Now less than 2% of people can grow their own food. Therefore, specialization, as in non-farmers, requires people to learn something that others will pay for so that we can eat, etc.
We all serve as examples to others. If one can not or will not learn some skill, they can still serve as an example to others of their resulting poverty and helplessness.
Make hay while the sun shines.
You cannot live on love alone.
Give a man a fish and he will eat one meal, teach a man to fish and he will feed himself for a lifetime.
