What does it mean when a person compares you to another persons’ alter ego? What are they basically saying?
My ex boyfriend told me that I am his new girlfriends alter ego and that she is my alter ego. I don’t really know what he means when he says that. I know that his girlfriend and I are rather different in alot of ways. He also said that we could learn alot from one another if we obtained some different characteristices from one another. He said that we be both could teach each other something and that we are each others “alter ego”. What is he really saying? I don’t really understand what that means.
An alter ego (Latin, “the other I”) is a second self, a second personality or persona within a person. The term is commonly used in literature analysis and comparison to describe characters who are psychologically identical.
I think he is using alter ego incorrectly; he means you are exact opposites in my opnion.
Your ex-boyfriend is an a**hole. I wouldn’t give an ex of mine the chance to compare me to a new girlfriend of his.
