Sadly, these things happen, but I’m sure the wrestlers themselves have to sign some kind of release forms that will protect themselves and others from charges being pressed. I’m sure that if foul play is suspected, an investigation would be launched, but I seriously doubt the wrestler would be charged with anything. As mentioned in an earlier post, Khali killed a man during training but nothing even came of it.

I don’t think so.

Khali once accidently killed a person while training and he hasn’t been charged with manslaghter, so no I don’t think so.

WWE could get in trouble for letting someone get killed though.

I think under most situations they would not. If they were performing as any other reasonable wrestler would they would not be held liable. I think the ref would be held more liable because its his job to call that match if he sees a wrestler is in real danger. Boxers have killed men in the ring and they haven’t been charged so I think that supports my way of thinking.

They’re under a signed Waver before entering the ring and ringsides participation. Contracts are an extension of the Waver. If a Wrestler picks an opponent from the Fans, be assured theirs a signed waiver. A waiver releases promoters from Liability without grievous intent. If a injury law suite is beginning, out of court settlements are kept confidential. Boxers have been subjected to what You’re asking and unintentional manslaughter carries the burden of remorse.

Probably not murder, since that would imply some intent to kill. First degree murder generally requires forethought and planning. If someone was planning to kill another wrestler, it’s not too likely he’d do it in the ring in front of so many witnesses. A case could maybe be made for manslaughter, but this would really depend on the circumstances. It would be far more likely that the promoter would be held responsible for the death rather than the wrestler.

I doubt it, unless someone totally snapped and really tried to hurt another wrestler.

Pretty much everyone knows that matches are scripted and that the wrestlers aren’t really try to hurt each other. If something happened where a wrestler died, they would have to prove the other wrestler did it intentionally.

It’s kind of like in football when someone gets tackled. Assuming it’s a clean tackle, what happens if the runner lands on his head, breaks his neck, and then dies? You wouldn’t be able charge the tackler with murder.

No, most of you are right about language in the contract that it’s an assumed risk. The other factor, most of what you see is fake anyway.

Well every wrestler signs a contract. So it depends on how they got killed if they’ll be charged or not.
